Description

The National Art Gallery of Canada is located in the heart of downtown Ottawa at 380 Sussex Drive. It was designed by the Israeli architect Moshe Safdie who envisioned the building made of glass and pink granite. The exterior is unique and innovative mimicking a cathedral-like structure with its towering height and flying buttresses. The interior reflects its facade and is successful in evoking a ceremonial environment like that of a Gothic cathedral. Today, the museum has a collection made up of many diverse works from American, Asian, Canadian, European, and Indigenous artists. It is a popular tourist destination for those visiting the city and showcases tremendous works of art to those curious of art and culture.
