Description

Maplelawn was an estate built in 1831-1834 for the Thompson family in its early beginnings and was later purchased by the Cole family in 1877. After the Cole family's departure from the building in 1989, it later operated as a restaurant in 1999 which is now known as the Keg Manor. The property is executed in a British Classicism style with a Canadian twist to more minor details such as the window ornaments. A remarkable feature of Maplelawn are its gardens that reflect a European-style walled garden which is very rare in a Canadian farming context.
