The Dominion Observatory

The Dominion Observatory was founded in 1905 in Ottawa, Ontario.  the building was an institution within the Canadian Federal Governement. For many years, a small observatory was being used for precise coordinates and timekeeping but in 1902, it was decided that Canada needed a larger national observatory. The building is located near Dow's lake and contains a main 15 inch refracting telescope, the largest refracting telescope in Canada.
