Royal Union Flag

Oversized Royal Union (or Union Jack) flag. Colours are quite faded (blue, white, and red). It is mounted onto a lightly padded rigid support backing and reinforced with a wood frame. At its right edge are newly added dyed fabrics to support, match, and complete the flag. 

The flag was in very poor condition when discovered in 2003. It was frayed, ripped, and very wrinkled. It was restored by Nicole Charley, a conservator in Montreal in January 2008.
