Description

The Senate of Canada Building is located at 2 Rideau Street in the heart of downtown Ottawa. The original use of the building was a railway station that operated until 1966. Today, it is the temporary seat for the Senate of Canada. The building was built strategically across from the Chateau Laurier Hotel where many travelers would often stay after departing from the station. This tactic by the railway companies and the Canadian government helped to increase and promote tourism to the city.
