Aerial view of the Old Ottawa City Hall, now the John. G. Diefenbaker Building of Global Affairs Canada, a Department of the Government of Canada – from the south. The image is of the entire campus on Green Island in the middle of the Rideau River, just before it flows into the Ottawa River at top, with the original City Hall building to the front left. The new addition was designed by Murray & Murray Architects, Ottawa and Moshe SafdieArchitects, USA – and opened in 1992. Original City Hall Building is the eight floor building on Sussex Drive, designed by Rother, Bland and Trudeau Architects, and opened in 1958, when it won a Massey medal.
