Item Description

A view of the Old Ottawa City Hall, now the John. G. Diefenbaker Building of Global Affairs Canada, a Department of the Government of Canada – from the north west. The image is of the long gallery walkway behind the circular cafeteria, with the former Council Chamber at top right. The new addition was designed by Murray & Murray Architects, Ottawa and Moshe SafdieArchitects, USA – and opened in 1992. Original City Hall Building is the eight floor building (not shown) at 111 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, and was designed by Rother, Bland and Trudeau Architects, and opened in 1958, when it won a Massey medal.
